“I have an endless fascination for health and healing and love connecting with people to facilitate that process. I help people who feel like there is more to healing than the conventional medical system and want a new perspective on the best way forward.”

Some areas of care Darren provides include:

  • Counselling
  • Hypnotherapy
  • EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)
  • Mindfulness & relaxation training
  • Understanding the mind-body connection in healing
  • Buddhist philosophy as it applies to healing and understanding of the nature of mind

Dr Darren Fahroedin has worked in General Practice for over 30 years and now focuses his work on the areas listed above. He now suggests all patients who come to see him have their own GP as he no longer offers the full range of General Practice services.

Darren has a long history of learning and applying many styles of counselling which gives him a flexible approach to match the person he is working with. A more holistic and integrated approach has always been a part of the way he sees health and healing.

The principles Darren operates from and encourages include mindful presence, acceptance free from judgement, loving-kindness, and compassion. Re-connecting people to their natural state of inner calm and tapping into the innate wisdom we all possess, to facilitate healing. Recognising old habits and conditioning in our thoughts/beliefs, emotional reactions, and actions, that keep us stuck in unhelpful patterns, and how to release and move beyond them.

Darren has a great interest in the ancient wisdom traditions including Buddhism, energy medicine, neuroscience, and quantum physics. There is a rapidly evolving convergence of ideas and understandings that is validating much of the ancient wisdom in modern scientific terms. This can give us renewed optimism as it is transforming our way of understanding of health and our capacity to heal.

“If our thoughts and emotions disturb our body’s physiology for a long or intense period of time this can manifest as physical illness or disease.” Darren is experienced at treating not just the end result (physical illness) but addressing the underlying thoughts and emotions to help give benefit to many physical health problems being encountered by his patients.

In addition to his work in medicine Darren runs a weekly meditation group at the Drol Kar Buddhist Centre, and is Vice President of Nying-Jey Projects committee, a not-for-profit organisation supporting Tibetan students, monks and nuns.

Darren engages in personal meditation to bring balance to his life. Family gatherings, keeping fit, and enjoying life on the coast are treasured aspects of his life. Increasingly he is enjoying travel to appreciate the richness of different people and cultures from around the country and the world.
